Mart IJland is in unstoppable form this weekend. Together with the eight-year-old stallion Quo Vadis, he stormed to victory for the second consecutive day. The 1.35m MECC Prize became a repeat performance of Saturday morning's 1* class. Alicia Bocken had to settle for second place once again, while Liam Deery raised the Irish flag with a third-place finish for the second day in a row.
“The jump-off suited my horse well. Quo Vadis is very careful, and fence one and two felt great, so I just went with the flow. The win yesterday left me wanting more as you always want to repeat that kind of performance. Of course, things need to go your way, and we can say that it went in our favor this weekend! I couldn't have asked for a better JIM debut. Hopefully, I'll be back here next year, and the bar will be set high,” said Mart IJland.
The podium was identical to Saturday morning's top three. Alicia Bocken showed a tight jump-off round with her eight-year-old mare Dalicia Devine Z but had to yield to Mart IJland once again. Irish rider Liam Deery was the only competitor who could challenge the Dutch dominance. On Sunday morning, he saddled the nine-year-old stallion Kesmitt DMH from Stal Berkhof, which saw two of their stable riders finishing on the podium once more.
