Boyd Exell wins opening round FEI World Cup Driving qualification

Boyd Exell raised the roof on the opening round of the FEI World Cup Driving qualification. Earlier this year, the Australian driver claimed the world championship during the outdoor season. Tonight, she showed his eagerness to continue his winning streak.

“It was a difficult course today. Long, with technical obstacles and fast around the cones. My team showed they can be both technical and fast. Quite remarkable is my new ride leader. The fifteen-year-old mare Katydid Dutchess, owned by Jennifer Matheson. She previously competed in the single driving classes with Taylor Bradish, with whom she even placed sixth at the world championship this year. Up till now she had to do it by herself, now she is learning the indoor team sports. She is piecing it together and I like her a lot.”

Boyd Exell emerged victorious in the World Cup qualifier in Maastricht last year and is keen to repeat the result in 2024. “I think our performance has put the pressure on the others. They now know what to they have to do to match me. The atmosphere in there was great tonight. It seems as if driving is gaining momentum in Maastricht every year. I’m looking forward to tomorrow, it will be an exciting night.”
